Course: Working with Children
4 – 8 March 2019, 9.30 – 4.30pm (ref: WWC19)
This is a five day course designed to provide an appropriate level of training for qualified counsellors to develop the necessary competencies to work with children aged 4 -11. The course also benefits other professionals working with children, including SENCOs and Learning Support Assistants.
The course aims to provide qualified counsellors with the skills needed to work with children with social or emotional difficulties. It is specifically designed to support school based, one to one counselling, but will support work with primary aged children in any setting.
The course welcomes counsellors who have trained in different modalities and will encourage participants to share their own experience and theoretical bias, methodologies and insights. The content tends towards integrative, person-centred and psychodynamic principles; however there is no expectation of prior knowledge or understanding of any one of these modalities. This modular course will combine development of theoretical understanding, experiential process, skills induction and group interaction to develop the skills required to underpin the development of a therapeutic alliance with children. This training is held in Bessels Green, Sevenoaks
