Schools

Fegans provides professional therapeutic services to primary and secondary schools throughout England.

Affordable, accessible and effective support for children, parents and school staff.

Most schools are struggling with issues such as extreme anxiety, exclusion, behavioural challenges, self-harm, eating disorders, depression or children who have simply withdrawn into themselves. Often schools struggle to find solutions for children who are facing these issues within the context of the normal school routine.

Fegans can be that solution.

We can provide qualified psychotherapists at reasonably short notice to work within a school and address some of those issues that can be so challenging for schools to resolve.

FAQs

Where are we based?

Fegans counsellors are currently in around 120 schools across the South East but we are expanding to the rest of England. We are continually growing into new areas as demand requires us. If you would like to discuss counselling options for your school please contact us.

How much is an hour’s counselling?

An hour of counselling with a Fegans BACP qualified therapist will cost the school £44.

How many hours can you provide?

Our Head of Partnerships can discuss this with the school, we’ll be guided by your budget and your needs.

We have a minimum requirement of two hours per week in any one school. At primary school age, three children can be seen in two hours

Do you provide group counselling?

Most of our work is one to one as the issues we deal with in sessions are complex and personal.

Once a Fegans counsellor is appointed to the school, what is the process?

The school will be asked to provide a list of students they feel could benefit from counselling. Permission from the parents will need to be obtained and the school will also handle the waiting list.

Do you have safeguarding protocols in place?

At Fegans, we always put children at the heart of everything we do and are totally committed to their safety and protection at all times. As such our safeguarding procedures are extremely robust. You can access our comprehensive safeguarding policy here.

How many sessions does a child or young person have?

Our outcomes show that children and young people have an average of 12 sessions of therapy depending on the nature, complexity and depth of the issue. Some require less and there are some that require more sessions or ongoing counselling.
