Back in September last year I put in an application to the Co-op Local Community Fund, and as a result Fegans was successfully selected by the two local Co-op stores in Tunbridge Wells as one of three local charities they wanted to support. The idea is that every time a customer uses their Co-op membership card in the shop, a percentage of the value of their spend goes to the chosen charities.
We were delighted to be selected and over the course of the past few months the funds being raised for Fegans has been slowly mounting. At the end of April we were notified that a total amount of funds that had been raised for Fegans was £1,450.91! This funding is all going into the Bursary Fund we have set up to subsidise the cost of counselling in our centres for children and families whose circumstances mean they cannot afford the full cost of this service.
Ann-Marie and I had the pleasure of visiting the two local Co-op stores to thank them and their customers for their support and for a quick photo shoot! It’s great to partner with businesses like this to both raise much needed funds, but also to raise awareness of what Fegans is about, and the needs we strive to meet in our local communities.
You can get involved by joining the Co-op and shopping there when you can, you can also see further progress on our Co-op fundraising by visiting our members page here.
