Mission / Values

Our Basis of Faith
  1. God as the Creator of all men, and the Father of all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  2. The Lord Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God, Redeemer of the world and the one Mediator, through faith, in whom alone we obtain forgiveness of sins.
  3. God the Holy Spirit.
  4. The fact of sin and the necessity for the Atonement.
  5. The incarnation, death, resurrection, ascension and coming again of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  6. The whole Bible is the inspired Word of God.

Our Mission

  • We are motivated by the love, example and teaching of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
  • We seek to offer to children and their families a service of support, care and counsel.
  • We promote the value of family life in society by:
    • encouraging children and their families to grow through their difficulties and enabling them to improve their lifestyle
    • helping children and their families to develop emotionally, physically and spiritually
    • participating in local and national forums

Our Ethos

Fegans believes that our ethos comes from a desire and motivation to express the love, example and teaching of Jesus Christ in those we seek to help and to reflect this in our relationships within the organisation.

The motivation for our mission comes from our faith in Jesus Christ which inspires us to a life of love.

"Be imitators of God therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."

Ephesians 5 v 1and 2

This expresses itself and is characterised by the following values and behaviours:

  • Uniqueness: Knowing that each individual is unique and made in the image of God.
  • Respect: Respecting each member of the organisation and enabling them to develop individually and as part of the whole.
  • Belonging: To each other and to God. Being willing to serve and be served.
  • Calling: To know that God has called and equipped us to work for Him in this field
    of ministry.

The attitude and motivation of the staff are as important as the mission itself. As the attitude and motivation come from a relationship with Christ, it becomes a genuine occupational requirement that many of our staff are committed Christians. Roles that have significant leadership or that are central to fulfilling our mission and values will always be held by committed Christians.

Fegans is committed to diversity amongst its staff and volunteers and will not discriminate on other grounds that are unrelated to our ethos.

Our Values

  • We believe we are made in the image of God, unique and individual, each person being of equal value.
  • We recognise that discrimination, racism, poverty and injustice distort God's image.
  • We believe that relationships are a God-given part of our lives and we value family life.
  • We believe that children and their families have the right to be given every opportunity to develop a personal identity, a sense of worth and a respect for themselves and others.
  • We believe that children have the right to be listened to, respected and taken seriously.
  • We believe that children have the right to experience security and to be protected from neglect, abuse and exploitation.
  • We actively seek to provide skill, sensitivity, time and commitment to children and their families.
  • We value all our staff and offer training, opportunities for development and support.
  • We actively seek to develop new services in order to meet the changing needs of children and their families.
